Ecuador’s electoral court rejected the opposition’s final challenge to April’s presidential election results, confirming Daniel Noboa’s victory. The opposition, led by Luisa Gonzalez and backed by former President Rafael Correa, alleged electoral fraud following Noboa’s win in the runoff. However, the court denounced the complaint. International observers and Ecuador’s electoral council had already recognized Noboa as the legitimate winner following the runoffs last month. The court’s decision closes all legal avenues for the opposition, solidifying Noboa’s position with analysts noting that is may signal a possible turning point in Ecuador’s political future.
Ecuador’s dollar bonds were trading higher by over 1.5 points – for instance, its 6.9% 2030s were up 2 points to trade at 76.1, yielding 18.2%.
