With markets expecting the US Federal Reserve to cut interest rates thanks to softening inflation and economic data, Treasury yields have moved lower. In 2024 alone, the US 10Y yield has moved from highs of 4.71% to its current level of 4.27%. As compared to its post-pandemic peak of 4.92% (in October 2023), the 10Y yield has moved lower by 65bp. Some analysts expect it to move even lower by the end of the year. Sovereign dollar denominated bonds that offer a yield premium (sovereign spread) have gained traction amid this backdrop, with an opportunity to lock-in higher yields. Keeping this in mind, we have compiled a list of the 25 largest sovereign bonds yielding 6-10%, so as to not include distressed issuers. This list is sorted by the amount outstanding, taking liquidity into consideration.
