Orix Corp has decided to sell most of its stake in Greenko Energy back to the latter’s founders for $1.28bn. Orix agreed to transfer a 17.5% stake out of its total 20%, to AM Green Power, a unit established by the founders of Greenko. The latest transaction is expected to close in July. Orix will receive cash proceeds of $650mn and $750mn of stocks (or a 10% stake) in AM Green via convertible bonds. Orix had initially agreed to sell its entire stake in Greenko in January, but the Japanese company terminated it in April as buyers had failed to agree with funding partners over financing of the transaction.
Greenko’s bonds traded stable with its 7.25% 2028s at 100.6, yielding 7%.
