Lufthansa’s CEO, Carsten Spohr, sees potential for more airline mergers in Europe. This comes after the German carrier acquired a 41% stake in Italy’s ITA Airways for €325mn ($332mn) last month and a 10% stake in Latvia’s airBaltic last week. Lufthansa is also exploring a minority stake in Spain’s Air Europa. The company aims to make ITA profitable this year and integrate it into Lufthansa’s Star Alliance by 2026. The Lufthansa Group now includes ITA, Swiss, Austrian, Eurowings, and Brussels Airlines.
Lufthansa’s EUR 4% 2030s have been moving up through the past week, up 1.2 points to 103.74, yielding 3.18%.
