Cemex SAB is said to be exploring a sale of its Colombian business to focus on North America and Europe, as part of exiting certain non-core businesses. Cemex is working with advisers to gauge potential interest in the unit, which could be worth an estimated $700mn-$1bn. Considerations are at an early stage, with the timing and valuation still fluid. Notably, a representative for Cemex declined to comment on specific asset sales, considering the above to be “rumors”. Cemex, which successfully regained its investment grade rating last year, has focused on reducing its debt, expanding its presence in core markets, and selling its assets in emerging markets.
Cemex’s dollar bonds were trading stable with its 3.875% 2031s at 88.8, yielding 6.01%.
