Amazon is in early-stage talks to invest potentially up to $50bn, in OpenAI, according to sources. This could make it the largest contributor to the AI firm’s current fundraising round. Discussions are ongoing and terms have not been finalized yet. OpenAI is seeking to raise up to $100bn at a valuation of around $830bn, as it ramps up spending on data centers and lays the groundwork for a possible IPO that could value the company at up to $1trn. The talks highlight intensifying competition among big tech companies to deepen ties with OpenAI, with SoftBank, Nvidia and Microsoft also exploring sizable investments. Nvidia is reportedly in talks with OpenAI to invest up to $30bn, while Microsoft is considering a smaller additional commitment.
Amazon’s bonds traded stable with its 1.65% 2028s at 95.6, yielding 3.7%.
