HDFC Bank’s dollar bonds slipped after CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan unexpectedly announced his decision to step down. The move has raised concerns over leadership continuity and governance at the lender. Earlier this year, HDFC Bank’s part-time chairman and independent director Atanu Chakraborty also resigned with immediate effect, citing concerns that certain practices did not align with his personal values and ethics. The bank is now looking to fast-track the appointment of a new CEO. Despite the near-term uncertainty, analysts noted that HDFC Bank’s underlying credit fundamentals remain intact.
Its’ recently issued 5.401% 2031s slipped by 0.1 points to 99.6 cents on the dollar, yielding 5.51%.
