Braskem SA’s dollar bonds ticked higher by up to 1 point after sources indicated that the company’s planned out-of-court debt restructuring plan is said to focus on extending debt maturities, reducing coupon payments, and introducing more grace periods. However, it is said to exclude a capital injection and a debt-to-equity swap. To execute this, Braskem is aiming to secure support from holders of at least one-third of its debt. Reaching this regulatory threshold will grant it a 90-day standstill on debt payments, during which it will work to win over the majority creditor support required to approve the final plan. Meanwhile, Braskem is fighting to retain control of its Mexican subsidiary, Braskem Idesa, which is currently renegotiating contracts with Pemex following missed debt payments.
Braskem’s dollar bonds traded higher, with its 7.25% 2033s up by 1 point at 58.6 cents on the dollar, yielding 18.2%.
